WHY WE GIVE.jpg

AT CONNECT CHURCH WE UNDERSTAND THAT GOD OWNS EVERYTHING

And God has called us to be good stewards of His resources. Therefore we invest our time, our talents, and our money into things that matter to God. We practice and encourage debt-free living and generous giving out of our desire to be wise stewards of God’s resources.

THERE ARE 3 SIMPLE WAYS

IS FINANCIAL GIVING BIBLICAL?

There are many opinions regarding money and the modern church. However, God's given us his unchanging word to guide us step by step, and teach us to be more like him in every way. Both the Old and the New Testament, speak on the topic of money repeatedly book by book. In fact, money is one of the most consistent subjects throughout the entire Bible. But no matter where you look, money is consistently seen as a sign of God's blessing, but a curse to use for only our purposes. Deuteronomy 14 sums up giving, in a quick, yet precise manner. It says, "The purpose of tithing (giving) is to teach you to always put God first in your lives." Our giving shows God what's most important to us, and what comes first in our lives.

SHOULD I GIVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT?

The Bible speaks of a term called the "Tithe." This term literally means "a tenth." The tithe is the baseline standard for giving in the christians life. It's the place where giving starts, though we should seek to go even deeper. But in this tithe, God asks his children to give back just 10% of the money He's given into our hands, and He asks that we give it into the mission of His church. God doesn't need our money, He won't beg us for it, He won't fight us for it, it's simply a test to see what takes priority in our lives. It reveals the nature of our hearts, and it shows us what comes first. When we choose to give the first 10% of our income to the mission of the local church, we choose put God first in our lives & in our finances. This practice is an act of worship to God, expressing our gratitude to Him, our faith in Him, and our love for others...

“'Bring one-tenth of your income into the storehouse...'See if I won’t open the windows of heaven for you and flood you with blessings.'" -Malachi 3:10

HOW DO I KNOW THE MONEY'S BEING USED PROPERLY?

At Connect Church, we have quarterly financial meetings to go over our profit & loss for the prior 3 months. At these meetings we go over a full list of every single transaction (income and expenses) that took place during that quarter. We know we have nothing to hide, and we believe that the people putting God first should have no question that Connect Church is doing the very same thing. We recognize that biblically we have no obligation to do any of this, but we choose to be 100% transparent to retain the trust of those who are faithful to the Lord in their giving.
